Memory hearts

Sentimental sewing.

Hi everyone, today I want to share these memory hearts that I made recently.
For those of you who follow me you'll know I am kept busy in the teddy factory making memory bears. I was asked to make some hearts and I was so pleased with how they turned out that I will now start making these to order.

I think they are a fab idea as I know not everyone wants a memory bear /cushion or sometimes they might not have enough fabric to make a bear from.
I was thinking these would be really sweet to add to the Christmas tree as a little keepsake.

Just click on the mail icon on above to email me and place an order.
The frames are 25 euro (postage extra) and the hanging heart on its own is 10 euro and 12 euro if you want a personalisd message on it.

Thanks for stopping by.

June's orders.

Memory order's

Hiya, I know it is still June but I just wanted to share some of this months order's.
June was a busy month with some orders received from the craft fair in May.

This month I even got a request for two wedding bears which was a really fun make as I got to make a veil for the bride bear.
A lovely floral christening bear also got a new home with some personalised wedding frame too.

The Dublin bear below was made from a jersey for a little lady called Lucy from her dads jersey. Then I had the pleasure of turning two baby dresses into small bears for a sentimental keep sake.

One of my faves this month was the scout bear, scroll down below for pics. This was a bear and a frame made from a scout shirt. I managed to keep all of the patches and sew them onto the bear.

Have a peep below at some pics and let me know which one is your fave.

For order enquiries drop me an email by filling out the contact form.
At present memory orders are taking 2 weeks to make.

Thanks so stopping by,
Catherine.

Craft fair 22nd May Royal marine hotel

My first fair.

Eek, the countdown is on, it is only one week until the craft fair in the Royal Marine hotel and I am starting to get super nervous.
I have been working hard to make enough bears and frames and some bunting too.
For details on the location of the hotel click here, it is in Dun Laoghaire south co.Dublin and is on exit 14 on m 50 and you can also get the dart.

Have a peep below at some of the items I have made so far.
I have made almost 28 bears and I am hoping to have 40 units made in total so if you really want one make sure to set a reminder for the 22nd.
There is only 2/3 units of each design so make sure to get your fave before it is gone.

Bears and frames will be €25 and bunting from €12.

Also if you have an item of clothing that you would like made into a memory bear then bring it along to the fair and I can have a look at it and take it with me and I can make it into a bear or cushion for you.

I have been having lots of fun preparing for the fair but if you have any tips and advice to help me I would greatly appreciate it, leave your tips/blog links in the comment section below.

Memory bears

SENTIMENTAL KEEPSAKES.

I was recently asked to make a cushion and a bear made from a shirt that belonged to the ladies dad. I learned to sew teddy bears in my autumn term of sewing classes and love making them.
Even though I was quite nervous to cut up a loved ones belonging I knew how lovely it would turn out once finished.

I to lost my dad to bowel cancer in July 2008 and it was quite sudden how it all happened.
I know that the one thing you want when you lose someone is to just hold them one more time.
Over Christmas I had the pleasure of making them for friends and family, there is a story that comes with every shirt and seeing peoples faces when they get them is really moving and special.

I made my little brother a bear from my dads fleece, my dad never really wore a shirt unless he had to so it was more sentimental for me to sew his fleece. This was my first time to sew using this type of fabric but thankfully it turned out, this blue fleece was something my dad always wore and we even have a picture of him with the dog in his fave fleece, sewing the fabric I noticed the wear marks and the singe marks on the sleeve from him lighting the fire. It brought back a lot of lovely memories.
Although I found it really emotional to make I am so glad that I did as my little brother was delighted with the bear as he was only 14 when my dad passed away so finds it a comfort to have.

I will be taking orders in January for the bears and the cushions and for pricing details click here on the Designs by Dainty shop link.
As I work full time I will only take on two orders a week as each bear can take up to 3 hours to make and I take my time as the fabric I use is extra special and I don't want to make any mistakes.
I would love to be able to make more bears for everyone but with work I have to try and fit in my sewing so have to limit my orders.

Have a peep below at the pics of some of the bears and cushions I have made so far. All of the ones below were made and given to people over Christmas and I was so overwhelmed with the messages I received back from people, it was so sweet.
